We are seeking an outstanding Research Scientist to join our team. This is an exciting opportunity to help develop a disruptive technology that will change the way critical therapeutics are distributed to those that need them around the world.

Reporting to the Director of Research and ultimately the Chief Scientific Officer, the successful candidate will be comfortable working hands on with minimal direction. This position is anticipated to be located in our Houston-based facility after a brief training period in Austin, TX.

Responsibilities:

• Prepare film formulations containing various biological APIs (e.g., viral vectors, VLPs, mAbs, mRNA, pDNA, etc.).
• Assess biological stability of APIs in the film formulation by performing transfection assays, ELISAs, qPCR, electrophoresis, etc.
• Design and perform in vitro experiments to characterize candidate formulations and determine the stability and efficacy profile.
• Conduct lab-scale experiments to help define process parameters for production scale-up.
• Prepare data summary presentation, compiling data and authoring technical reports.
• Communicate effectively with scientists, project managers, colleagues, and external vendors.

Qualifications:

• B.S. or higher in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Chemistry, or other relevant scientific discipline
• 2-5 years of experience in an industrial setting, preferably in a cGMP environment
• Capability to work hands-on in a BSL-2 facility
• Significant hands-on experience with aseptic technique, cell culture, and in vitro assays
• Strong molecular biology skillset including but not limited to qPCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, electrophoresis, etc.
• Experience in virology, preparation of virus stock, and measurement of viral titers
• Demonstrated experience working across internal and external research teams
• A highly analytical, decisive, and goal-oriented mindset, with the ability to maintain the 30,000 foot view
• Ability to quickly adapt to change and thrive in a dynamic and entrepreneurial early-stage environment
• A strong team player with excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to travel up to 10% (domestic and international)

Compensation & Benefits:

• $80-100K Annual Salary, Depending on Experience
